Hello All,

This was a short week. Because of the 4th of July, our team took  4 days weekend. On Wednesday, Tom, Gabby, and I had our first brainstorm session about the wire frames. We came up with the features that we wanted our application to have in order to support DCC’s patients. We included ideas for a pillbox option, a medications option, a info center option, a diary option, a goals option, and  a share your info option. We got some ideas for the wire frames from some exemplar objects that Gabby, and I explored. On Thursday, Gabby and I did each our own versions of a paper prototype for two of the features that we want to include in the the app–pillbox and medications. Here are some pictures of my version. After building the paper prototype for these two features, we performed the Yours is Better and Task List tests in order to compare and decide what we wanted to adapt from each other into one app. To do these tests, we had the help of Meagan, Max, JJ, and Mina. Meagan and Max were given personalities: Meagan was Jay Z, and Max was Beyonce. Here is a link to the Beyonce and Jay Z profiles. Megan and Max adopted these characters and helped us with the Yours is Better test. They both went through our apps and gave us feedback. Then JJ and Mina helped us with the Task List test where they told us what they thought the features were supposed to do before they actually performed a task, and then we compare if they got the expected result. After performing these tests, Gabby, Tom, and I got together and decided what options we wanted to use from each of the versions. The next step regarding the prototypes is to finish the whole app, but for this, we decided we want to do it digitally. We decided to use the software called MockFlow, which is free and has some very helpful features. Today, Gabby and I prepared for our Lightening Talk. We prepared a small slides presentation about our research and prepared to deliver it as concise and quick as possible for we were supposed to have only 1 min to present. However, Dr. Siek was flexible and allowed us to go over 1 mins at the time of presenting. Here is a link to my Lightening Talk slides. This week Gabby and I have also been working on our first draft of the poster. But still needs some work, and pictures need to be added. Today was also Tom’s birthday, and all the REU students surprised him with decorations, a piñata, and cupcakes. I think he was very happy.

Until next time…
